Primeros pasos en nuestra nueva parroquia

Lo primero pedir perdón a nuestros seguidores de lengua castellana por haberos tenido abandonados por tanto tiempo. Pero aquí estamos de nuevo con las buenas nuevas de nuestra misión en Taiwán.

Mathews y yo, terminados los dos años de estudio del mandarín, fuimos de vacaciones y pasamos las Navidades con la familia. Al inicio del año y con nuevas energías volvimos a Taiwán y pronto nos incorporamos a la parroquia del sagrado Corazón de Jesús, donde hemos sido asignados  por nuestro Obispo. Esta es una parroquia en la ciudad de Hshinchu fundada por los Jesuitas, como muchas de las parroquias de nuestra Diócesis. Los Jesuitas entregaran la parroquia a la Diócesis y desde agosto los misioneros de la Consolata seremos los nuevos responsables. Hasta entonces trabajamos como asistentes parroquiales y poco a poco nos vamos integrando en la vida de la comunidad parroquial a la vez que continuamos aprendiendo el idioma, pero ahora sobre todo en un ambiente cien por cien taiwanés.

Y La comunidad crece. En este tiempo hemos tenido la alegría de dar la bienvenida a un nuevo misionero, el Padre Gilberto Rodrigez Da Silva. Brasileño  de la región Amazonas, ordenado hace dos años .  Ha estado aprendiendo inglés en Londres y llego a Taiwán el 5 de Abril. Ahora ya tenemos también sangre latinoamericana entre nosotros.

En este momentos se están habilitando en un segundo piso del edificio parroquial hasta ahora usado como oficinas, para que pueda servir de vivienda de nuestra comunidad. Mientras terminan las obras hemos estado viviendo Mathews y yo en la casa de los Jesuitas junto a la parroquia, y Gilberto y Jasper en la curia. Cuando todo esté listo podremos vivir los cuatro en la parroquia, Gilberto y Jasper centrados en el estudio del idioma y nosotros dos en la actividad pastoral.

El desafío más grande sigue siendo el del idioma. Los nervios de la primera misa en mandarín ya los hemos superado, pero no es poco el tiempo y las energías que aún tenemos que emplear para prepararnos la misa diaria y dominical. Pero no estamos solos en esta tarea. Gracias a Dios contamos con la ayuda de los parroquianos que con mucha alegría y generosidad nos ayudan siempre.
